Charge to the Distinguished Service Award Review Committee
Charge:
The Committee solicits recommendations for SACUBO’s annual recipient of the SACUBO Distinguished
Service Award. The Committee will screen and evaluate recommendations made by the membership and
recommend to the SACUBO Board the person(s) to receive the award. The purpose of the Distinguished
Service Award is to recognize service to SACUBO from within its membership.
Membership:
- Members are generally appointed to one-year terms by the First Vice President prior to taking
office as President.
- Immediate self-succession of regular members normally is not permitted except in the case of an
individual who completes an unexpired term and is appointed to serve an ensuing full term. (SACUBO
Bylaws Article 6.1 Appointments)\The Vice Chairs of the Constituent Committees shall serve as
members of the committee.
- The Chair of SACUBO’s Nominating Committee shall serve as a member of the committee.
- The Chair shall be appointed from the membership by the President-Elect. The Vice Chairs and
the Chair of SACUBO’s Nominating Committee are eligible for appointment as Chair of the
Distinguished Service Award Review Committee.
Meetings:
- The work of the committee is accomplished by mail, fax, e-mail and telephone.
Linkages:
- Nomination forms/criteria should be published in appropriate editions of the SACUBO Ledger. The
Editor of the SACUBO Ledger should be contacted to determine submission deadlines for the various
editions of the SACUBO Ledger.
- The Treasurer must be consulted regarding payment for the actual award and for payment of
travel expenses of Distinguished Service Award recipients.
- The Chair, Host Committee, must be consulted regarding complimentary registration for
Distinguished Service Award recipients.
- The President and Chair, Host Committee, must be consulted regarding inclusion of Distinguished
Service Award recipients in appropriate events.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- The Chair will prepare and receive nomination forms for the Distinguished Service Awards.
- The Committee will review and evaluate all nominations received.
- The Chair will present to the Board, at the Fall Board meeting, the recommended recipient(s) of
the Distinguished Service Award.
- After approval of the Board, the Chair will notify the Distinguished Service Award recipient(s)
and invite her/him/them, and her/his/their spouse(s), to the annual meeting. Recipient(s) will be
informed that her/his/their, and her/his/their spouse(s), travel, registration and accommodations
will be complimentary or reimbursed by SACUBO.
- The committee will acquire a suitable award to be presented to the award recipient(s) and have
it suitably engraved. The Chair will present to the Treasurer for payment, or reimbursement, all
costs associated with the acquisition and personalizing of the award.
- The Chair will arrange for the award to be available at the appropriate annual meeting event
for presentation.
- The Chair will arrange for suitable publicity associated with the award of the Distinguished
Service Award.
- The Chair will see that all arrangements associated with recipients of the Distinguished
Service Awards are appropriately delegated or handle them personally.
- The Chair will prepare/update a Distinguished Service Award Manual for the next Chair to ensure
continuity of the policies and procedures associated with the Distinguished Service Awards.
