Qualifications:
  • Graduation with a bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred. Major course work in business or public administration, computer science, political science, statistical analysis, psychology, sociology, education, or economics generally preferred.
  • Three years experience in research and analysis using qualitative and quantitative approaches. Substantive experience in higher education teaching, research, or policy preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES EXPECTED UPON ENTRY TO THE POSITION AND THE WORKFORCE

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, conduct, or oversee research projects; evaluate research reports and policy responses; and interpret, write and publish research findings.

Position Description: DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THESE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Monitors and analyzes research and policy relevant to the implementation of Closing the Gaps and the institute’s workplan.
  • Assists in the administration and management of policy research projects.
  • Works under the supervision of the institute’s director and deputy director to perform specialized analytical tasks, including complex tasks that require the interpretation, aggregation, evaluation, and reporting of a variety of qualitative and statistical data.
  • Assists in the formulation of research-based educational policy recommendations that the state can use to support the goals of Closing the Gaps by 2015 and to improve educational outcomes and cost efficiency in higher education.
  • Prepares, edits, and presents for publication research findings, policy briefs, and technical papers.
  • Takes initiative on projects and completes them successfully without supervision.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships internal and external to the Coordinating Board to support the institute’s work.
