Business Accounting Track
SACUBO’s Professional Development Committee partnered with Cherry Bekaert to update the accounting education program offered at the 2019 Fall Workshop based on feedback from SACUBO members and past participants.
The updated curriculum focuses on providing Accounting, Auditing, and Tax continuing education through targeted updates and deep dives on complex issues.
Updates: GASB, FASB, and UBIT
Deep Dives: Leases (GASB 87); FASB Leases (ASC 842); FASB Revenue from Contracts with Customers (ASC 606); GASB Grab Bag focusing on Fiduciary Activities (GASB 84), Asset Retirement, OPEB, and any other topics of interest; Fundamentals of UBIT, and Internal Control Best Practices.
The Deep Dive sessions will be two hours in length. The first hour will focus on the nuts and bolts of the pronouncements, and the second hour will incorporate discussion on how colleges and universities are implementing the pronouncements on different types of campuses and will include a Q&A session.
This year, accounting track sessions will be open to all participants; however, unlike the concurrent sessions, each topic will be offered only once. The general program will offer concurrent sessions on a wide variety of topics of importance to higher education business professionals, and attendees will be eligible for up to 17 hours of CPE credits.
SACUBO appreciates the time, effort, and staff provided by Cherry Bekaert to support the offering of quality continuing education opportunities to SACUBO members.
