New Public and Private Institution Business Accounting Tracks in Addition to the Regular Program

SACUBO’s Professional Development Committee is partnering with Cherry Bekaert to update the accounting education program offered at the 2018 Fall Workshop. Two optional accounting tracks, Public Institution Business Accounting (GASB/Governmental) and Private Institution Business Accounting (FASB/NFP), will be offered at the Fall Workshop. In the past, the accounting tracks have been divided into beginning and advanced sessions. As usual, the general program will offer concurrent sessions on a wide variety of topics of importance to higher education.

The accounting tracks have been refreshed for this year’s Fall Workshop based on feedback from SACUBO members and past participants. The updated curriculum will focus on both the fundamentals of financial reporting for public and private institutions as well as more advanced topics such as the business of higher education, best practices in internal controls, student financial aid programs, and more. Business accounting track participants will choose between the Public Institution (GASB/Governmental) track and the Private Institution (FASB/NFP) track and will also participate in joint sessions that impact both constituent groups. For more information, see the schedule link below.

The business accounting tracks include sessions on Monday (morning and afternoon) and Tuesday (morning). Those attending the business accounting tracks will join other conference attendees for general sessions, meal and breaks, and other Fall Workshop events and will receive a full 15 hours of CPE. There are no additional costs for the business accounting track programs. Attendees simply choose the appropriate track when registering for the conference.
